A decade ago, my wife and I had our first baby, a beautiful little girl. At the time I was a boy in a man’s body. A textbook 28-year-old man-child. I ate whatever, whenever, and as much as I wanted, and my t-shirt size showed it…

I rarely worked out and I didn’t have any active hobbies. Too bad playing a guitar doesn’t burn any calories…

Then one fateful December night, as my newborn daughter slept in a crib next to our bed, my wife asked me point blank,

So, what’s your end game here? We have a daughter now…” as she painfully pointed at my stomach…

Ouch.  

That stung but it was necessary. It was time to grow up and get my act together for both my family and myself. 

Embarrassed and fed up with myself, I rolled over, grabbed my phone, and texted a fitness-minded friend of mine…“Hey brother, I need your help…”

It was on.  

It was time for a drastic change.

Cue the Rocky theme-song montage (and continue that montage every week for the next decade…).  

I began doing simple bodyweight programs on my dining room floor. I started a “meat and vegetables” dietary lifestyle, and I put in the hard work day after day. As time went  those simple bodyweight programs progressed to competitive powerlifting, investing in a full garage-gym, a diet on point (most of the time, anyways), and almost 100lbs lost over the next 10 years.  

More than the lost pounds, I’m prouder of the fact that I have missed zero weeks of training over that decade.

Consistency is king.

However, the physical transformation isn’t even half of the equation… The mental transformation is the real story here.

The mindset that one builds when you put in the work month after month, year after  year, and transform your body (and lifestyle) has a powerful effect on your mind. It’s unmatched.  

...Through my own trials over the past decade, and getting wins under my belt, a warrior was born, ready and equipped to push through whatever challenge life threw at me next.

The real lesson I learned and confirmed was that nobody can do the work for you. 

Nobody will hold you accountable. YOU must do the work and hold yourself accountable to get where you want to be.

When you earn that mindset through the hard work and discipline it takes, nothing in this world is out of reach for you anymore.

You will soon become the only motivation and inspiration you will ever need moving forward.  

That’s a powerful place to be.

My name is James Appleton, Co-Founder of Absolute Aid, and creator of the Seek To Do More Program.

Over the last decade I transformed my own life through nothing other than grit and consistency mixed with the determination to improve, and a desire to get the most out of myself.  

Oh, and refusing to quit. That’s an important element to the story. 

Over that time, I’ve built the foundation and acquired the “tools” necessary to push through life’s obstacles to always be moving forward.

Life will throw you curveballs, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still swing the bat and knock that breaking ball over the center field fence.

I originally wrote this program just for myself to improve areas within my own life that I wanted to improve.

I wrote my own personal program (plan) to get where I wanted to be. A daily list of six tasks that I dubbed, The Do’ers List

What I found was more than I ever expected…

The Do’ers List was the blueprint to build a foundation for  

Personal growth.

Personal accountability.

Complete health and wellness.

Self-reliance and self-confidence.

Constant forward progress.

The Do’ers List is truly the formula to build up a person to become the only motivation they need in life to accomplish any goal they seek to achieve…

Why? Because this list prioritizes our time in productive ways by building daily habits that strengthen our bodies, our minds, and our spirits.

I am a “list guy” by nature. I know how crucial it is to get that first item or two checked  off the list quickly thus building momentum to keep going. So, I even included list items that I’m already very good at, knowing it would help me build that daily momentum.

I knew I could lean on my strengths to help me build up my weaknesses. And it worked.

After all, I’m seeking to strengthen the whole package, right?

We all have different strengths and weaknesses, so you will lean on the list items that come naturally to build momentum as you seek to strengthen the weaker areas.
